Aecom Technology prices public offering of 4 mln common shares at $20.20/Share - Quick Facts PDF Print E-mail
Aecom Technology Corp. (ACM) announced the pricing of a public offering of 4 million common shares at a price of $20.20 per share. The company noted that the size of the offering was increased from the previously announced 3.5 million shares. The company said it has granted the underwriters a 30-day option to purchase up to 600,000 additional shares to cover over-allotments, if any.  Aecom Technology said it intends to use the proceeds of the offering for general corporate purposes and future strategic acquisitions. Morgan Stanley acted as the sole book-running manager, and Merrill Lynch & Co. and J.P.Morgan were co-managers for this offering.

Canada is well-positioned to take advantage of moves by auto makers to bring electric vehicles and other fuel-efficient technologies to market, say analysts who have studied these developments.

The opportunities for Canada are exemplified by Ford Motor Co.'s partnership with Canadian auto parts manufacturer Magna International to produce a fully electric car that goes up to 160 kilometres on a single charge.

Magna officials say the partnership will create jobs at Magna, and there are more opportunities out there.

The first-generation Kindle weighed 10.3 ounces and offered a paperlike E-Ink display that keeps eyestrain at bay (as compared with the backlit displays of cell phones and other mobile devices). The first Kindle was readable in sunlight; it also offered long battery life and allowed you to look up words on the fly, as well as to take notes and highlight passages at will.

Windows 7 download demand overwhelms MS servers

Microsoft's mighty servers were overwhelmed as computer users worldwide rushed to download a free test version of a Windows 7 operating system being groomed to succeed Vista.

A virtual queue formed on the Internet in the hours on Friday before the planned release of Windows 7 "beta" software at noon local time in Microsoft's headquarters in Washington State.

"There was a line of people waiting online, so the noon release became an about-noon release," said a Microsoft spokesman showing off Microsoft's latest innovations at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Simply put, electronic stability control is the most important auto safety innovation since seat belts.

That’s the consensus from Consumer Reports, the federal government, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and many other auto industry experts.

"Our recommendation to consumers is that you want to buy a vehicle with electronic stability control," said David Zuby, a vice president of the Insurance Institute. "It’s a very effective way of reducing the risk of fatal crashes."

As I toured the convention hall, I had to keep reminding myself that this was Detroit and the North American International Auto Show, not Las Vegas and the Consumer Electronics Show.

For amid all the high-end tech in the hybrids and electronic vehicles on display to the public through Sunday are vehicles that are showing off impressive touch screens, in-dash avatars and computerized infotainment systems with onboard, online connectivity that rivals that of a broadband-wired desktop PC.

In fact, at least one of those new tech advances was first announced at CES.
